Cinch Connectors Participates In The IBTA Integrators List Logo Program

CINCH CONNECTORS PARTICIPATES IN THE INFINIBAND TRADE ASSOCIATION (IBTA) INTEGRATORS LIST LOGO PROGRAM FOR HIGH SPEED CABLES

LOMBARD, ILLINOIS - March 20, 2009 - Cinch Connectors, a multi-national manufacturer of abroad range of interconnect products, announced today participation in the InfiniBand Trade Association (IBTA) Integrators List Logo Program.

The IBTA Integrators List Logo Program provides vendors with usage rights of the IBlogos on products that have passed rigorous compliance testing at theUniversity of New Hampshire (UNH) InterOpLab. End-users are assured that products marked with the IBTAIntegrators List Logo meet required performance criteria of the InfiniBand (IB) specification.

“The IBTA Integrators List Logo Program covers both 4X and 12X cables for all three IB data rates including single data rate (SDR @ 2.5Gbs per lane), double data rate (DDR @ 5.0Gbs per lane) and quad data rate (QDR @ 10.0Gbs per lane),” said Tuan Phamdo, Co-Chair of the InfiniBand Compliance and Interoperability Working Group (CIWG). “We are pleased that Cinch has moved quickly to implement the IBTA Integrators List Logo Program.”

Currently, Cinch has 27 cables approved for IB DDR logo usage and 17 cables approved for both IB DDR and IB QDR logo usage. Cables are available with wire gages from 24AWG to 30AWG. The approved cables are listed on the Integrators and Reference Cable list (www.infinibandta.org).

The Cinch cable assembly process uses laser welded termination of the twin-ax pairs directly to the plug contacts. This eliminates the usual PCB paddlecard commonly used for CX4 style connectors specified by SFF8470.

“To facilitate the laser termination process, we use a wafer connector design similar to designs used in high performance backplane designs. The wafer design allows us to include a large ground plane design between differential pairs to better control crosstalk,” said Jim McGrath, Technology Manager for High Speed Cables at Cinch. “The laser termination yields a very consistent process allowing Cinch to provide consistently high performance cables, cable to cable and lot to lot.”

Bill MacKillop, New Business Development Manager at Cinch, will be announcing Cinch’s participation in the IB Logo Program at the Open Fabrics Alliance Symposium (www.openfabrics.org) planned for March 22-24 and will be presenting an overview of the Cinch welded termination process.
