Introduction to InfiniBand Cables
Cinch designs and manufactures high speed cables for InfiniBand SDR, DDR and QDR, incorporating industry standard SFF8470 interface.
Recognizing the need to minimize discontinuities in the cable termination area, NX Cables utilize laser welded, direct attach termination of the twin-ax conductors to the cable connector contacts, eliminating the discontinuities associated with the commonly used paddle card.
Coupled with a unique ground shield between the waferized pairs, NX Cables provide the lowest loss interconnect available today in the SFF8470 form factor with less than 2% cross talk.
Cinch’s advanced manufacturing technique and wafer construction provides superior signal fidelity over long distances.
NX InfiniBand Cables are available in wire gauges including 24, 26, 28 and 30 AWG in various lengths from 00.50m 30AWG to 10m 24AWG for DDR and 7m 24AWG for QDR installations with the industry’s largest selection of backshell options.

Performance Data for InfiniBand Cables

*Lengths based on actual testing and port to port performance using outermost port (worst case) switch to switch. Longer lengths can be used when connecting switch to HBA.
Electrical Performance
- Differential Impedance: 100 ± 10? @100psec rise time
- Near End Crosstalk: <1.5% @ 50psec rise time with 4 aggressors
- S11: < or = -15dB to 5GHz (3m 28AWG cable)
- S21: < 10dB attenuation at 5HGz (3m 28AWG cable)
- CX4 PSXT: < or = 30dB @ 5GHz (3m 28AWG cable) sum of PSNEXT (3pairs) and PSFEXT(4 pairs)
- InfiniBand Eye pattern opening with Xtalk (3m 28AWG cable):
• SDR(2.5Gb/s): 372psec width x 600mV height
• DDR(5.0Gb/s): 166psec width x 421mV height
• QDR(10Gb/s): 54.7psec width x 153mV height
