Designed for space‑constrained, high‑frequency devices, the XMC family supports increasing demand across 5G & IoT, WiFi‑7, WiGig, networking & data centers, test & measurement, medical, defense, railway, and industrial markets.
As device form factors continue to shrink while frequency requirements rise, engineers are increasingly challenged to balance RF performance, footprint, and supply availability. “The XMC family gives designers a low‑profile, ultra‑miniature RF interconnect option that supports today’s higher frequency requirements up to 9 GHz while helping address size constraints in compact devices,” said Ketan Thakkar, Sr. Product Manager, Cinch Connectivity Solutions.
The XMC family is designed for a wide range of applications, including wireless LAN, Mini-PCI, handheld RF devices, GPS, Bluetooth, microwave radio, test and measurement equipment, as well as cellular and IoT devices. Available in two frequency options—XMC-6 (up to 6 GHz) and XMC-9 (up to 9 GHz)—the family supports next-generation high-frequency designs, including WiGig applications. XMC-6 features a low-profile 1.2 mm mating height, delivering approximately a 50% lower mating height and more than a 60% reduction in PCB footprint compared to UMC (u.FL)-style interconnects. The XMC platform is engineered to deliver equal or better RF performance than comparable solutions, including improved VSWR, making it an ideal choice for designers to develop compact, high-performance electronic systems.
The XMC portfolio includes a broad range of standard cable assembly options, with 32 catalog configurations available. Offerings include XMC-to-XMC jumper assemblies and between-series cable assemblies with XMC-to-SMA and XMC-to-MMCX connectors in multiple standard lengths, giving designers greater flexibility for a wide variety of RF interconnect applications.
